UV-Light Viewing Cabinet Long Wave/Short Wave Ultraviolet Light and Viewing Cabinet: Very bright UV lamp that easily switches between long wave and short wave emission Ultraviolet lamps emit light rays that the human eye cannot see. Under an ultraviolet light source, many stones and minerals fluoresce (or give off light). The fluorescence may vary with the wavelength of the light (short wave or long wave UV). This fluorescence is useful in determining the authenticity of stones. Fluorescence may make a diamond look like it is a higher grade than it actually is.
